The only keyboards I even look at buying are those without the windows keys.

    They are totally unecessary.

They are actually pretty useful sometimes, standard press of it isn't, but a few shortcuts with it are really useful, if I can ever remember them XD

I'm kind of 50/50 on it. Work supply us with Thinkpads so they dont have the windows key on it and therefore I dont miss it, but things like <win> R (run) and <win> D (desktop) and also <win> L (lock) are pretty useful.

To only seek out keyboards without with windows key sounds churlish, most keyboards have these keys nowadays therefore you may discount many a decent keyboard.

I confess I actually use the windows key far more than the alt key, it's very useful.

Windows key+E is a god send when you have a million windows open.

Is there a handy place with lots of windows key shortcuts? I keep forgetting them, I always mean to use it, but I've become so used to using a keyboard with no win key on that I keep forgetting to use them XD

    http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic1841.html that's got a few

Is there a decent "quiet" keyboard out there that still feels like you're typing? My basic keyboard is fine, but my parents complain because it clicks too much.. (and i'm 16 - before the geek jokes start!)

Yup tons - Dell quietKey are great, cherry and logitech also have relatively quiet keys.

Windows+D is my most used shortcut

    Cheers

I think the steelkeys changable keys function would be better if they had a few different colours available, otherwise half the keyboard would be grey, leaving little point in it.
