    Review :: F.E.A.R. – PS3

    The crux of the problem with F.E.A.R. on the PS3 is either poor porting, sloppy programming or (worse) lack of hardware ‘oomph’... which all conspire or combine to make F.E.A.R. much less of an experience than it should have been.

    And it really hurt to write that as I just love F.E.A.R. to bits on the PC.

    Ouch - that gotta hurt. The graphical issues surely must be software, if the PS3 is unable to faithfully recreate a two year old PC game that runs on pretty mid range PCs then there's trouble ahead right?

    Good review, thanks.

    Would you believe i've only just discovered FEAR on the PC - I ignored it on release but picked up a copy of the original and the extraction point pack on ebay recently. What a great game! And it runs like an absolute dream on modern PC hardware.

    Quite worrying that the PS3 has trouble running it....

    Cue scary voice..... "There's something in the water".......... (!)

    I dont think it has anything to do with PS3 hardware. The 360 version looked just as bad. Both versions are just lazy ports.

    The FEAR engine just isnt really up to much nowadays (and imo it never was). It doesnt scale well and to get it looking anything approaching half decent at the time, you needed a very fast system.

    I sold my 360 version with a view to picking it up on pc instead.

    Best bet really...besides...if you're gonna fill your shorts with bum gravy, you're best doing it in a darkened PC room, rather than a Living Room.

    And lets face it....bad port or not...that game still scares the bejesus out of most people in some parts.

    I enjoyed the 360 version, but then I've never played the PC version so I can't compare it to that.
