Free TV coming to a PC near you soon - but at what cost?

Announcements made this week by the BBC, ITV and Joost have two things in common - the promise of letting you watch a whole lot more TV for free on your personal computer and the likelihood that, if you do, you're going to fall foul of your internet service provider under its fair-usage terms or end up paying out big-time for exceeding your monthly download quota!
    More.

Its a major step forward, but is there really anything I would personally want to catch up on? No. I'll be giving it a go though, just to check out of curiosity.

Im sure for most people, catching up on boring soaps and general reality TV tripe will be most enjoyable.

It would seem that most of the decent Joost channels are US only (Comedy central, Nat Geo etc). Bum.
    Not around too often!

I think the Joost is likely to be the way forward - its got programmes from existing networks, but also, and possibly more importantly, new programmes that are available only through Joost - and most of them are quite watchable.

I'm looking forward to when I move out of halls, with a house of 4 students high bandwidth broadband with a large usage allowance is on the cards, possibly f2s 100gb - that should give us all plenty to use

    OMG, I am caped.

100 Gig down and no uploads counted, think I can live with that.

Wonder what all those people who though 20Gig cap was fine will now think about caps.

This will be great when the quality is superb and there is that enormous back catalogue. In the mean time, my catching up will be done using Media Centre.

Only problem: nothing on TV worth watching/recording!

Unfortunately TV in this country is not free.

Its kinda run by something similar to the mob, using threats to extort money from you.
