AMD details next-gen Griffin mobile CPU and Puma chipset

AMD today confirms its plans for future-generation mobile PC technology based around the Griffin CPU and Puma chipset rival to Centrino.

AMD really need to work on tidying up their chipset diagrams!

Whats with the memory coming off of RS780M, its listed as Extended Battery Life and "L.F.B" but I couldn't see any reference to it and it can't be RAM as thats dealt with by the CPU.

At a best guess I'd go for Local Frame Buffer to avoid the IGP keeping the CPUs memory controller from entering lower sleep states?

Also worth noting the IGP on battery, discrete on mains switching will keep people locked in to not just an AMD/ATI chipset and CPU but also ATI GPU as Vista, unlike XP, does not allow graphics drivers multiple IHVs. Doubt NVIDIA will like their 'partners' doing that too much.

It all looks very promising but so did the HD2900 and that was disappointing so I'm not expecting much tbh, that way I won't be as disappionted.
