Headline :: Kill the Halo 3 beta bug

This won't be relevant to most of you, but as Halo 3 is such a hot topic at the moment and some people have been experiencing a bug in the game, we thought we'd let you know how to fix it, if indeed you've been affected by it.

    Check out the Headline

Nice that they extend the beta testing, however I don't think that they had to do this as a form of compo.

So, some people experienced a bug, that's the whole idea of beta testing, to find out if there are any significant bugs/glitches, that can be fixed before the release of the product to the general public.

    Agreed.

I can't understand why so many care about playing an unfinished game...sounds like masochism to me. Though people do like to moan on the interweb and this a perfect excuse.

It's a chance to get a free taster of a game that won't be released, I don't see the problem with that. I know I would've loved to play the Halo 2 E3 demo.

I don't have a problem with it but so many people will play and then complain about it...and they already have!

And thats different to the final release? XD

This is when you're really supposed to complain, "this doesn't work, change it"

Right I bit the bullet and downloaded it and I have to say I'm suprised at how good it is and how it runs?

So all my comments above are null and void, I am officially an idiot! In my defence I didn't think it would be as polished as it is or even this fun. I am confused by all the weapons and grenades as its not clear how strong they are. What does anyone think?

I like it (even if I am useless at it )

The new grenades (brute Spike) are great, definitly my favourite grenade type.

As for guns, I seemed to do better with dual wielding SMGs, than most other weapons.

I found the spartan laser to be too slow to fire, but extremely powerful if it actually hits it's target. The Brute Spiker carbine was pretty good, but I still prefer the SMG's.

    Game Types

Free for all - played 3 different types yesterday Shotty/Sniper, Rocket Arena and standard. Points for Kills.

Territories - stand near check points for a set amount of time while fending off opposing team. Played 2 versions: Land Grab (where both teams fight for control of the checkpoints) and T/CT style game where one team defends the checkpoints against the other then the teams switch). Points for checkpoints controlled.

VIP - one member of each team (chosen at random) is the VIP. every time a VIP is killed a new one is chosen. Points for killing the VIP

I must say I am really impressed with the new gametypes, they've altered them slightly which confused me at first.

Old gametypes like bomb, instead of waiting around in position with the bomb to plant it, you plant it immediately and then have to defend it. Territories is also a bit different now, as Blade mentioned.

I love the brute spiker things, use the SMGs occasionally but they're not powerful enough for my liking. They've fiddled with the weapons a bit. In H2, the SMG was basically the assault rifle from the first, now they kept the SMG the same, but gave the assault rife a smaller clip and made it more powerful, it's definitely a great starting weapon.

The needler has also been improved a lot, I noticed you couldn't dual wield it which seemed a bit lame, but then I understood why, it's very powerful, the needles don't track quite as well as they used to, it's very fast firing, and you only need a few needles to kill someone. It's a great weapon for close quarters and firing into a crowd.

It's little changes like this that have completely turned the game on it's head really, I think it's fantastic, definitely buying this on the 25th.

I've noticed they've toned down the "noob combo" a bit, plasma pistol doesn't hone in so well and it takes longer to switch weapons.
