Nokia begins shipping DVB-H equipped N77

Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has begun shipping its latest N-series phone in its home country, with the handset reaching further afield later this month.

Looks like a first step in the right direction.

I just wish they'd hurry up and ditch the analogue signals. As you said in the review DVB-T is a pain at times.

Seems a shame that this doesn't have the lovely bog screen of the N95.

Am I the only one that thinks DVB-H is a waste of time? The Archos AV700 has been able to tune to, record and play back full DVB-T transmitions ages now. By the time DVB-H becomes widespread across the country, phone will be powerful enough to handle full resolution MPEG-2.

The only thing that DVB-H has that DVB-T lacks is a loop back to the mobile network for pay TV. I believe you can also have two way interactive sevices. You could be watching QVC, press a button and buy the item, the money is then taken from you mobile account rather than credit card.

    IMHO, it's a little pointless

Although you do have to acknowledge how amazing DVB-T is, when you consider that you can receive it (well... sometimes) even when there's another signal stronger than it transmitting at the same or near-same frequency. Bloody analogue tripe!
