Headline :: Rockstar set to appeal against ManHunt 2 ban?

Rockstar has issued an official statement expressing their disappointment with the UK ban of ManHunt 2. The last game to suffer the same fate in Britain won a ruling to overturn the decision, so maybe there's still hope for Rockstar.

I hope they succeed, I don't mind games companies putting in place content filters as a compromise which can be repealed with a password that you create.

Then again, that'd be something for responsible parents to use...

yet another BBFC ruling that needs over turning. People see alot worse on the news and in the papers, so why ban a game that will carry a cert rating?

Never fails to amaze me how such people can simply say "Ban this"

I have 3 kids and i'm very very careful about what i let them see and watch, so why not let it pass

I personally fail to see what so great about the first game that justifys a second...other than shock value.

    Very true.

    Parents should have licences really.

This is ridiculous, the game is 18 rated. Movies this violent don't even raise an eyebrow anymore. If a kid gets hold of something like this it's only the parents fault really. Nanny state just takes responsibility away from the parents, and in cases like this just makes it even easier to get hold of the game. If something is illegal most people don't bother about the age certificate.

The problem was never about children having access to this game - that is prevented statutorily by just sticking an 18 cert. on it. They deemed this game unsuitable for adults. A movie with this kind of content would not be passed uncut.

No, it's not, it's about kids getting their hands on it, there were so many complaints about kids playing Manhunt, that had an 18 sticker on it, yet many still got a copy. Theres nothing in the game that an adult can't deal with (unless they have mental problems), and as said before, theres been a lot worse released in movies and even in un-rated things like books and newspapers. I expect this ban to be lifted, because quite frankly, it's retarded, and the BBFC are going to get a **** load of complaints about it.

Where on earth did you get that information from?

    Seems clear to me.

No, what he's trying to say is that because with the wii-mote you could make a stabbing motion to stab someone or a sawing motion to saw limbs off or whatever, it's more immersive/realistic as you're actually doing the actions instead of pressing key combinations like you would on other formats.

Incidently, there's no such thing as a kids console (unless you class those edutainment units for pre-schoolers consoles) so can we leave the console bashing out of the thread please.

it was on the bbc news this morning guys. one person stated that if it was just on the other consoles and not on the wii, it wont be so bad. blademrk quotes sounds similar to what the person said on the bbc.

in a way i agree to an extent on why they have banned the game. some guy may try it on a wii and then is dumb enough to try it for real
