Headline :: Games industy is bored with the 'sequel syndrome' say EA

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Electronic Art's recently appointed CEO, John Riccitiello has said that videogames companies are 'boring people to death' with re-hashed sequels and lack of innovation in their titles.

i wish one of the movie houses would come out and say this about their relative area too
it is true though and Nintendo are already trying to break away from this with the Wii, if only they would release some of the classic titles!

It's strange isn't it? Out of all the companies that could have said this, it's EA - one of the biggest culprits. At least this guy has recognised it and wants to shake things up.

It is funny they said it BUT in the breath great that EA said and the man in charge said it. Lets hope he does something about it, they may have already started with Splinter Cell: Conviction, its supposed to be very different but I have my doubts.

hahah I clicked this thread with exactly this in mind. Glad to see you all thought it too. I'd love to think they will start using some creativity for a change, but I suspect we'll see another 50 fifas, nfls, nhls, command and conquers, etc...

P.S. And on a semi-related note... The new C&C game annoys the hell out of me The graphics just aren't as good as I was expecting, but the important thing... is that I prefer the original old Tiberium Sun about 5000 times more than the recent one

EA finally start to listen to their customers? *faints*

Next up is "Gamers fed up with sloppy ports, cheap movie tie-ins, bug-ridden premature releases, and stupid copy protection schemes..."

    We can but hope..

So, are EA dropping most of their franchises? Or dramitcally re-working them for the next releases, so they're completely different from this current generation?
