Question is - can you get the movies off the 360 and play them on something else? I don't care if they're timebombed, I just wouldn't be able to watch a movie with my 360 sounding like a hoover in the corner.

No. It's not too bad though when there isn't a disc in it.

What ever happened to sat and cable tv channels streamed to your xbox?
I saw on a gadget show a while ago some MS head honcho with a media remote and a 360 and he was going through all the channels you would normally see on satelight.
    Is this still happening?

That sounds like he was just using the 360 as a Media Center extender.... connected to a PC with a tv/sat tuner.....

You might be right but thats not the way they were talking about it.
They made it sound as though it was the next big thing for the 360 following the video marketplace.

the cable tv channels you are referring to here is the iptv (internet protocol television) service which microsoft announced a while back for the xbox 360. this is apparently still under development and due for release before the end of 2007 (at least in the US)
    hope this helps!

Hurrah, sounds good to me. I am looking forward to this rather than traipising down to overpriced blockbuster rentals. £6.00 for 2 nights, for a 22p DVD, don't think so!

Just so you know, a rental dvd costs a lot more than a retail dvd. I don't know the figure off the top of my head but from what I can rememver it's about £20+. That is what the rental companies pay the distributers for it so blockbuster aren't the ones ripping you off

Ahh ok. Thats good to know, I feel sorry for Blockbuster...their business must have a limited shelf life now. Unless they can adapt and change, maybe online rental.

i'd like it to be as updated as blockbuster, like new relases are readily available as they are in the video shop

also with unlimited free downloads thrown in as part of the 40 quid a year fee we pay for gold
