    BSkyB buys Amstrad

    Sky is offering 150 pence for each Amstrad share, which is 23 per cent more than the shares were fetching on the open market last night. On the London Stock Exchange Amstrad shares have jumped almost 20 per cent to 145p on the news. Amstrad has fallen steadily this year from high of 199p per share in March.

    Why on earth would Sky buy Amstrad??? I know Amstrad at one point manufactured a few digi boxes but I havent seen any for a long time, what do Sky want that Amstrad have???

    Well if they own a company who can make the boxes - they can push all resources that way - and reduce the costs of the boxes which they have been shipping for free... ?
