Perfectly likely judging by Microsoft's constant denial of rumours, that have sooner or later turned out to be true...

However, wasn't the big thing that the HD-DVD drive doesn't play games? They'd have to redo the drive to read the game disks security.

Hmmm, I would've thought this would have been leaked like the Elite long before the retailers even got wind of it, let alone had it in their inventory list or whatever.
