    The aftermath of the Skwypeout

VoIP provider Skype suffered a loss of service last week that lasted two days, leaving end users - including businesses - without VoIP services. Skype's come forward with a reason for the outage, making - in the eyes of this reporter - the situation even worse.

Re: The aftermath of the Skwypeout

sorry, but I do think that a business which bases itself on Skype and does not have a backup is more than a bit negligent.

Lets face it, its a free service, and I can't imagine that many personal users out there don't have mobile phones, so at worst it cost them a bit more to phone using a regular service.

Sure Skype should have done better testing to catch the bug, but personally I don't feel they are guilty of misrepresentation, I think people expect too much from an essentially free service.

I also think Skype deserve a lot of support for coming out and telling the truth about the outage.

    Cheers

    Rajiv

It's not a free service, if you are paying for Skype Pro or any other associated parts of it - yes the main system is free for PC to PC - but when you have a Skype In number it is supposed to be a replacement service.

Is this going to happen everytime a critical update is released and everybodys systems reboot automatically?

I guess they will "fix the self-healing bug".....

Very funny though, I wonder when the US will go after MS for terrorism, seems they are blamed for everything else
