I'm starting to think that Microsoft see DirectX for the PC as just a way of bringing Xbox games to windows cheaply and easily, rather than as a feature/product in its own right..
i must admit when i bought vista and my dx10 card (woot! i'm one in 50) i expected more games to be coming in dx10 form it seems a bit off
incidentally if 1 in 50 who use steam have a dx10 card and vista how come every kid you play with seems to be running to 8800 ultras and a core 2 xtreme
i wonder why that is

Dont assume that they're always joking, I fell into that trap... I miss my mom.
I've held off from the Vista 'experience' until the 1st SP comes out - perhaps this is what the masses are waiting for? Though the thought of moving over to DRM hell also sends a shiver down my spine - network overhead for playing an mp3?!![]()
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
I suspect if they launched DX10 under XP it would have a lot more appeal and adoption - I supsect the number of Vista users is far lower than people with DX10 capable cards...
Assuming the 360 was up to it, DX10 for the 360 would at least result in more DX10 games to benefit PC gamers. Restricting it to Vista might be a very big mistake. If it doesn't push users to Vista, & it doesn't seem to be, it's going to hurt ms.
There's no way I'm "upgrading" to Vista for DX10, granted I haven't got a DX10 card either, but from what I hear, even on the DX10 platform it's making little difference compared to DX9 anyway..
Hopefully Microsoft will do a u-turn and release it for XP, but if they don't, I can't say I'll be too concerned either way TBH.

Windows XP user here and still going strong - really do not see the point of getting vista until at least service pack1, and thats even owning a dx10 card (i got a good deal on it). Look at any microsoft release and think of a os that was fine when it first came out![]()
