What exactly is the point in these products?
The cards themselves are huge and will be fairly power hungry. What are the benefits over a single, powerful card?
Show me a dual HD2900 that manages to keep heat and noise under control, then I will be impressed.
EDIT: I've thought of a good idea! If one of the GPUs could be completely disabled, along with half the memory whilst in 2D mode, then immediately come back when a 3D app was launched, then that could be a big advantage over a single more powerful card.

Same point as releasing 7300LE cards with 512mb memory.
Ie, it's just a numbers game - if the buying public are faced with one 256mb card for 120 quid or a '1gb dual/double' card for 120 quid they will largely go with the latter.
Give them what they want vs give them what they should want.
They will sell really well .... in PC World
Also when you look at the multi monitor ability of it - so you could run 8 monitors off one card... (They have new headers due soon... )
