One of the key reasons scan are popular is they listen to the customer demand

It is Inevitable.....
all good from my point of view - cant believe how cheap the quads are now. need to order some water cooling stuff from scan before i go there tho
I could see no evidence of a separate SKU for G0 stepping CPU this morning. Have HExus jumped the gun on this story or is it hidden somewhere?
Seems like they have? got this email from Scan today.
Dear Sir,
Unfortunatly we are unable to confirm the Stepping code / week code for
a CPU or the BIOS revision of a motherboard.
This is due to having more than 1 active supplier at any given time. As
such when 2 deliveries arrive, they tend to get mixed on the shelf -
therefore if we check them and report back 1 stepping, there is a good
chance that picking could pick another.
We can offer a BIOS upgrade service prior to shipping for a standard
charge of £ 10.00 + Vat.
Please feel free to contact our Sales department if you have any
further queries or would like to place an order - 0870 755 4747 ( Option 2 >
Option 1 )

Scan Computers
The word on this coming up was straight from one of the Scan guys in thread t=113476 (I can't give the url due to a new user anti spam policy), so unless they change their minds I expect it is coming - when they get their hands on some product.
The email quoted above has I think been their standard response about such matters since about 2005. /I think/ I came across a post from 2005 recently which described the change to that policy.
Oddly in thread 113476 it's mentioned that when Scan make the G0s available under a separate stock code to the B3s, this will be the first time they've done that, which it at odds with their apparent policy before 2005. I'm guessing the explanation is that pre 2005 it was an informal arrangement where one could make the request on a per order basis whereas now this will be implemented using distinct order codes for the two steppings & it will initially apply just to the Q6600.
Or I could just be talking out my since I was reading this all at 5 in the morning.
Hi folks,
Any idea when this might happen yet?
Can't wait for Scan to give the go signal in this, I've got my credit card at the ready - hurry up!!!!
Yeah likewise, but I guess we need to be patient. I wish they'd take pre orders though - I'm concerned I'll not notice when the offer goes up & by the time I get my order in I'll be at 500 in the queue.
Still, I understand their reasons. They can't guaranty times & if the wait is long some people would complain.
If only i hadn't just bought a Xeon...
I happened to be perusing Scan about 90 mins ago, and saw the G0 stepping of the Q6600. I ordered one with some other bits and pieces, but by the time I finished the order, the G0 Q6600 had mysteriously disappeared.... Grrr! What's going on Scan?!
These have been temporarily disabled until we get a confirmed delivery date for the "G0" steppings.
Once we get a confirmed date and guaranteed stock it will be reactived accordingly.
Best Regards,
