Yeah, you just turn off WiiConnect24. :)

Not true. Both the PS2/3 have proper switches on the back, so when they are off, no power is being taken by the consoles. Otherwise they are in standby mode.

The Xbox had no power switch, but had to be left in a standby state to maintain the clock. The 360 also has no switch, but again when the power brick is connected you can see the power LED glowing. Unless the power is cut from both consoles at the wall, that is the only way to get a true power down. Just because they don't have a visible standby LED, doesn't mean they aren't in standby mode.

If you truly want to be green, then the only way is to switch your consoles off at the wall. If getting your hand behind a load of units is too much, then get a remote power switch, or have them all connected to an extension lead where you can get easy access to the switch.

The 360 brick draws 2 watts in standby mode. I just tried and was suprised. I'd have thought that it would be more for such a large thing.

thing is all those little very few whatts add up.

Or the other way is to just hold your power button down for longer until it glows red instead of yellow - this disabled wii connect 24 also :) This way you don't have to mess around with the options every time you want it off properly, for example if you only want to disable it when you are away for a few days etc.

But that's not off. Off means 0 watts being used. I'm going to be testing all my consoles over the weekend and find out exactly how much power they are taking up in any given state. Hopefully i'll post it on sunday (if i have time)
