I am glad, as an early adopter - I got screwed!
You didnt really get screwed...you got to watch HD DVDs before the guys who are buying them now.
hmmmm...
mildly tempting. do i want the noise of the 360 when watching movies though?
This was in the Hexus Bargain forums yesterday. :)
the noise isn't like normal - you only have the console fan noise, no disc drive noise as such - the HDDVD drive is much quieter apparently...
How are these things connected to the 360? I saw a photo of the rear, looks like a USB input with 2 more USB sockets for the Wi-Fi connection etc, but is that it? Also power, is it a standalone powered device, or does it use the 360 PSU?
And it's a spearate power lead...
I just plugged it into my PC, which is silent, anbd after a quick Windows Update it works fine in PowerDVD.
As another early adopter, I'm tempted to buy a new HD-DVD drive, fill in the form, wait a week or two then take the drive back.
If I remember right, if you've got the MS wifi dongle there are clips in the back of the DVD drive to clip it onto (so that you can plug the HD-DVD into the back USB slot of the 360 and the wifi dongle into the HD-DVD drive).
it sounds like a good deal
