SYMBIAN LAUNCH SCREENPLAY - NEW GRAPHICS ARCHITECTURE TO RIVAL APPLE iPHONE

Symbian technology ships in a HUGE number of smartphones

At today's SMARTPHONE show at London's Excel Centre, HEXUS.tv went snooping for the scoop - and we think we found it !

    http://www.hexus.tv/show.php?show=172

Symbian were launching their brand new graphics architecture - and we have the demo video for you

That 250,000 smartphone shipped during the show alone gives a strong indication of how this market is shaping up - and the kind of competition that Jobs & Co will soon face

As we all know, when (at least) 2 sides go to war...

...the consumer is (almost) always the winner !

this is quite intresting, alpha blending is a good way of getting more from a pixel limited device (such as a phone). Other than that its just bells n whilstels really.

I wounder how nice it is to program with
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)

Got to say that I have never really considered this

I would imagine that the major phone companies would lay down their new platforms for the future - and include an SDK for themselves at the same time - that lets their own guys get up & running really quickly with a bunch of pre-built/libraried/compiled features

I stand to be corrected - but I would have thought that for the 'majors' - programming would be really easy and - for everyone else - 'more' challenging...

..but I have no way of quantifying 'more'

I will ping Rys and see if he has any insight !
