I've been thinking of moving already and this may be the nail in the coffin for me.

Re: Hundreds for chop as Tiscali launches Pipex jobs purge

I decided to drop Pipex the day I heard that they were taken over by Tiscali.

As it is their customer care is crap - wonder what it will be like after this purge.

    I also wonder the same.
I've wanted to drop them ages ago, but because none of the contract/details are under my name (they are under my brothers) I can do f'all about it because hes too useless to migrate his pipex email address to something else....

Re: Hundreds for chop as Tiscali launches Pipex jobs purge

I dropped Pipex when they were bought out by Tiscali, when I cancelled they asked why I was and said it was because of the buyout, I was then passed to a manager who was nice but she failed to convince me that things would not be worse. I told her that when companies merge then costs are cut but she said they would be left intact. Sadly she is probably looking for another job now or soon.

I went to Zen and it has been perfect. The only problem I have had is that it took me 3 phone calls and two months to get my money back after Pipex billed me for another quarter after I had already left and that they phoned me up 3 or 4 times to get me to go back.

At least the bosses made a lot of money, shame they shagged the workforce in the process. There's very few bosses who are not greedy sadly.

I had been with Pipex for 5 years and when I first joined they were a lot smaller and like Zen are today

    Regards

    Andy

Re: Hundreds for chop as Tiscali launches Pipex jobs purge

As a Pipex customer, I have been less than happy with their service over the last couple of years, particularly with the reliability of my broadband connection, which regularly gets dropped, and the actual - as opposed to advertised - download speed. I've still got 9 months to run on my present contract but if things don't improve drastically during that period I'll definitely be looking for another ISP then.

When I am there I use my 3G card rather than that connection - should say something for the quality of service.

The connection at my dads place was homecall which became Pipex. The service is beyond awful. Almost always unreasonably slow for a 1mb broadband connection, throttled to hell and back and regular dropouts to boot.

My dad cant be bothered to change it because he gets the phone and internet from them, with some discount for combining them - and he only uses them occasionally as he has internet at work as well as 3G deal with T-Mobile.
