I tried installing F@H command line client today.
Then my PC started beeping at me.
I think I need a new'un ;)
Our company's retiring a quad opteron server soon. IF I can sweet talk the IT manager & house the damned thing, i'll donate it to the cause.
Incidentally, it was this machine alone that propelled him to #1 BOINC processor in the world at one point. But company policy dictates it has to be retired at 4 years old. :s

well ive been hitting up the work units and its quiet addictive seeing both the team and myself rising up the prospective rankings. trouble is mrs gets angry when im leaving the PS3 on folding so that a bit of a no no but i have that folding where i can and i also have my 4200x2 server running 2 instances of F@H ( 1 for each core ) 24/7. It a freat thing and i am trying to get my mates involved as well!! GO TEAM
Well, the cause is good, the software's clever, and the fact that PS3's rip through it all so FAST is superb news :)
Quad core's are pretty damn sharp too, but the simple fact is, ANY CPU can do it, and even if it's slow.....it's all about DISTRIBUTED computing, where MANY PC's do stuff quite slowly, but the end result is MASSIVE :)
So, even if you've got an old P4, as many of our team have, and even if it takes over a week to do a small unit....don't worry....JOIN.
It's all automatic, so you don't need to do anything except set it up, which is a doddle.
