I have a Japanese PS3. To update it do I need to go through the jap site and download firmware onto a flash card before install (like I did before) or will it find it if I plug it into the network and let it go online to look for it ?

Not too sure with a jap ps3, i have a us version, but as soon as you go online then try to access the store it asks for you to update the firmware and then does it automatically.

Theres a custom theme dev kit you can download as well, which looks pretty good, if a lil too complex and time consuming for the average user...
