So he's an actor.... so what?
Can't actors buy consoles? Are they really space aliens who do not need gaming as entertainment?
Of course not. Fair enough they should have said he's an actor, but what DOES his JOB have to do with the fact that he had a failed console that sony would not warrant his warranty on?
I reckon theres too much tin-foil in this thread from all the conspiracy theories as my teeth are starting to tingle.
Well it's just blinking hard to feel sorry for Sony - they've spannered up probably one of the most robust brands ever haven't they? Complacent springs to mind..
Rule number #1 - don't take the pee out of your fanbase.
Thats a dirty PS3, how did it get so dusty? He is, at the end of the day, responsible for taking care of his machine. It could be that the dust has caused the problem with the PS3, also he could have avoided the problem by cleaning it before sending it back to Sony and not having it look like it he kept it in a sand pit!?!
sounds like just a z list actor wanting to get a few more minutes of fame...
Not just an actor, but an actor who has apparently been hired by Fox before to "XXX XXXX XXX" EDITED - INCORRECT. FOX have been known to pay actors in the past.
Fox news is the Gestapo News Channel, this is nothing new- it's been doing stuff like this for ages, this is like the fake FEMA(Federal Emergency Management Agency) interviews having a normal news interview about those Californian fires but all the reporters were FEMA not real reporters.
Yes, he can have a PS3 and yes he can be the person who just happens to be at the start of the big news that Sony aren't paying out on warranties, but it really does stink - plus I hate FOX. Plus I love conspiracies!
It may of course be totally innocent, but it's like the boy who cries wolf. I just don't buy it this time. I don't trust them.

Now if they run a story about the 360's being naff and getting the RRoD and he is sat there talking about it then I would be suspect.
I couldn't find any detail on that bit from the news post. All it says is:
Which reports? IMDB says nothing about this. The Consumerist has one out of 125 comments linking to one forum post in another forum which, again, had no evidence. Simply this:The weird thing is, Godshaw is a professional actor who, according to reports, has been paid to appear on Fox News before.
That's it. Nothing else, except the Fox News interview and the IMDB link (which, by the way, doesn't list Fox News as an acting role for him).Originally Posted by inner-G

(Now I get smacked down because I only went through the first three pages of that incredibly boring NeoGAF thread, and there's a ton of links of evidence on pages 4-6 or something. Actually, I found Sol's first sentence here quite funny, so it was kinda worth my time )
Just causing a bit of debate that's all.
'Apparently been hired'. Like you, I couldn't find any evidence of this, just going by what I saw written, hence using apparently.
I'm not saying there is something amiss, I'm purely raising the question that one of the dodgiest news networks in the world runs a story about a dusty PS3, with an actor kid that has worked for FOX.
(Reid Godshaw Photos - Reid Godshaw News - Reid Godshaw Information).
Fox news only reports in a way that helps them to achieve their own goals. It's news for the braindead who don't open their eyes to what's really going on. It's just the whole package - FOX + FOX actor + crap PS3 story blown out of proportion = possible bull.
Details of their techniques can be found on many websites and they've also tried to silence ex-FOX journalists in the past for revealing too much about what goes on at the channel
They don't mention that this kid appeared in one of the networks shows. To me, that's strange, but to you it may be normal.
I think I should need to change 'reports' for the word 'speculation' as admittededly it does perhaps give the wrong impression
FOX News exposed by employees
'to act as a member of the public before.' - don't know where that came from - please ignore! I've edited that in the other forum post so not to give the wrong impression.

That's all fine and good. I haven't made any comment about Fox News or their practices, because I'd probably just launch into a tirade against their ridiculous newscasting - sometimes I honestly believe that it is intended as a parody.
Maybe this should have been a forum thread rather than front-page news, then. Is it just me, or is there something ironic about using dodgy journalism to report on dodgy journalism? "Speculation" does fit better than "reports", cheers.
"Goddard nor FOX News has yet stepped forward to explain." - it's good that you contacted them both, but what exactly are they explaining? Shouldn't they just be answering the two questions?
