Running up large bills, what's your record?

Most of us have had the misfortune of running up a large bill at some time or other. Having read about a $85,000 phone bill in the USA, I thought I'd ask the question; what jaw dropping bills have HEXUS readers received?

Re: Running up large bills, what's your record?

I once paid for a naughty webcam session with a lovely young lady who appeared to have a charming manner and class (some year's ago I hasten to add) . I made the fatal error of not closing down the window properly. I ended up paying around £250.00 when all I wanted to do was to see what all this webcamming lark was about. I literally spent about 2 minutes in this webcam session, before getting scared after she began to fondle herself and talk in a rather rude manner.

    Never again.

Back on the subject, my wife has pay as you go - otherwise she'd spend a fortune.

Nah, Credit card bill. I've seen those phone ones though, I certainly wouldn't trust them.

The largest I've seen my work mobile bill reach as been a shade over £2500. It's regularly > £1k.

It can mount up quickly when you are traveling. £1.20+ a minute is possible, and that includes recieved calls too.

I would hate to see some of my Dads mobile bills.

Personally, the highest i've had was about £150 one month and then £75 the next when i was in Egypt for work. That went on expenses.

Just a tongue in cheek comment. I know how quickly they can add up when making international calls (or receiving while roaming).

Actually I am expecting a £300 or so bill this month. Been roaming through Dubai, India and Sri Lanka for the last few weeks - and made LOTS of calls.

Both incoming and outgoing calls cost pretty much the same in those countries with a roaming T-Mobile phone and I had a lot of calls.

Strangely enough, I do it quite often at the supermarket too. You go around putting stuff in your trolley thinking it'll add up to £40 - £50, get to the checkout and it's always £70 - £80!

Yup, both. I spent a lot of my working life abroad but even when I'm in the UK (which is quite rare these days) I'm spending a lot of time on the phone to the other offices around Europe.
