Yeah I think I'll wait until I hear some feedback about this SP first, before I go ahead and download it. Is it time limited as well this one?

i got this weeks ago thought id give it a spin since i was reformatting for a new gfx card anyway..
it has issues, namely with bouts of "hdd stops crunching and it just sits there for 5 seconds" and also had real trouble getting it to work with integrated sound..
back to sp2 for the moment
edit: actually only partly back to sp2.. its still on the laptop, that works ok. no better and no worse than sp2 in that situation

May have to try this on a test machine, don't fancy trying the main machine until I've heard a bit more feedback on it! hah.
will give it a try when its properly released. i like XP, it works just great. no need to upgrade to vista just yet. the only time i've ever felt a strong need to upgrade OS is when i was running windows ME....what a disaster
NB: If you patched your kernel to use a custom startup screen, you WILL need to revert to the original to install SP3 RC1. Also, if you've patched your uxtheme.dll, this will no longer work.
True, and there's nothing stopping you from re-patching the kernel afterward. That said, uxtheme so far has resisted re-patching.
no it hasnt - im running sp3 and iv patched the uxtheme.dll file.... do you want me to upload the tools to do it with?
