Re: Unreal Tournament 3 - PC

Couldn't get it to run in XP at all, Vista (on the same PC) had no problem however.

Noticed the problem with the log in (my connection quality dropped in the middle of a match which resulted in me getting kicked out of my match despite it being a single player mission).

I was expecting a minor update to 2k4, and I haven't been dissapointed... it is a minor update.

I'm one who also agrees with you Nick. Good graphics do NOT make a game good.
It seems they've gone backwards in progression; taking out the adrenaline, no futuristic space station maps, no lightning gun. Single player is just a joke. An FPS game like that is mainly multiplayer and so something like installing gamespy infuriated me, I hate pointless software...

I do however have one question.
With an FPS series like that, what more can you do? FPS is an FPS - I never played Unreal tournament - So if someone could tell me the major changes from that to UT2k3 were, I would appreciate it.

Putting in new things like what you suggested would be a delight to see, I'm sure, but I think that Epic might have come up with new ideas, but by incorporating some "new things" that Epic may or may not have made could have disjointed the "unreal" game/feel. Now I'm not trying to back Epic up for not being creative, I just don't see what more could be expected.

The menu system isn't that bad, it flows smoothly, and loads quickly - and yes, they were too lazy to implement their own server browser.

I do still see Epic as a good dev, and can only hope people dont turn into EA.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well I downloaded the UT2k4 demo last year and enjoyed playing it but thought I'd wait for UT3 as I assumed it would be exactly what it is, the same game with better graphics.

However 99% of the time my PC is not connected to the internet and the only PC which is has an FX5200 and a 3Ghz P4. I'll be getting 2k4 then.

Oh I forgot to ask. The Gaussian blur - is this the "motion blur" thats in all recent games now....?

Honestly, anyone who thinks its UT2004 with better graphics is on another planet or hasn't actually played UT2004. The differences are huge, its trying to find something that *is* the same. In fact, its the main reason I don't enjoy it as much.
