Dell launches Crystal display, or does it?

Earlier today, Dell launched its super sexy transparent monitor, the Dell Crystal. The company has since pulled the launch page but it looks as though we can expect to see the display become available very soon.

That would be mint although I`m not a big fan of built in speakers.

That's a fashion piece, unfortunately with the price to match.

Absolutely stunning though. Just... absolutely stunning.

I'm unaware of anything similar being launched by other companies with the glass surround. It looks sweet! I think they have got the price a bit wrong though despite the really good looks.

I thought Dell were one on the backers of the display port interface, supprised it's not on this monitor.

Re: Dell launches Crystal display, or does it?

From what I heard display port is still a few months away from being available.

Also it prolly needs a different chipset on board and with this panel being so slim they prolly want to keep size down

my 3yr old sony 30" TFT TV has a glass (well perspex) surround that makes the panel appear to float, however its still not as nice as this one

    Exactly.

This display is not intended to be purchased by technically informed people such as ourselves, who read and compare specs. It is intended for the reception desk or the CEO's desk at blue chip corporate offices. And for wealthy individuals for whom money is no object.

As far as I can tell the spec is inferior to a normal Dell display. It is a bit like comparing a Vertu with a Nokia. The Vertu costs 10 times as much, has fewer features, but is beautiful, and looks expensive, which some of the time is the most important feature.

Re: Dell launches Crystal display, or does it?

We all know that Dell will plumpet the price on this when it launches properly.

They always quote high prices and you can get things a little later - cheaper.

It's a shame it doesn't have Display port or 1080p support
