Review :: Geometry Wars: Galaxies - Wii, DS

Whilst other developers sit back waiting for the post Christmas sales slump to pick up before they unleash their new titles, Bizarre Creations and Kuju Entertainment are starting off the New Year with a bang with the release of Geometry Wars Galaxies, the multi-directional shooter and the sequel to the critically acclaimed Xbox live arcade hit, Geometry Wars.

Re: Review :: Geometry Wars: Galaxies - Wii, DS

I love Geometry Wars on the Xbox Live Arcade so I'm tempted to pick it up on the DS now too.

Steven, are the screenshots in the review from the DS or Wii version? How does the DS version look in terms of visuals? On the 360, the game is eye-popping on a big screen. Granted it won't have that effect on the DS but on the small screen, is the action still intense and colourful?

For owners of the Xbox Live Arcade version, is the DS version worth buying?

I really like the DS version, as I said I do prefer it to the Wii version.

The menu screen, the way you progess through the levels and the planets available are the same on both versions.

The screenshots are from the Wii version, but the DS version doesn't lose any of the intensity despite the visuals being less bright.

It's still really colourful and the small screen really draws you into the action. I like Geometry Wars on Xbox 360 as well, but this is great to play on the move. I think they've done a fine job incorporating the stylus play and it feels quite natural moving the aiming line around.

I'll certainly get some good use out of this game.

I'll borrow your copy once you're done with it.

Does sound very good though. On the 360 Arcade, Geo Wars is the kinda game that I'll load up once in a while just for a quick blast. The DS is perfect for doing just that too.

I gave it a quick go on the DS yesterday and though I like it, I can't see myself playing it too much as I do definately prefer the 360 version.

I found the DS game doesn't quite have the frantic action that the 360 one does.
