Is that meant to be surprising ?
Locked into a contract for 18months with a couple of hundred quid premium on top, with insurances not covering the loss of the phone.
Theres no way I would get one anyway.

I'm not at all surprised - for £269 plus £35 a month for 18 months - total cost £900, why would it ever be popular? Every other phone out there, including some that are much better featured, is massively cheaper. You don't even get a competitive contract for the money. For £900 I could buy a high end computer. Even from Apple I could buy an iMac or a Macbook - the iPhone is never going to get more than a tiny fraction of the market with being much more reasonably priced.
good to hear
A phone which lacked the features of it's competitors and had the wrong price model for the UK - it's not shocking. People aren't willing to pay for handsets (in the main) and you're really narrowing your market with such high tarrifs. A zippy UI isn't enough.
Come back with the 3G version and a better contract deal.
QFT. And the facility to install your choice of software. And decent enterprise-grade email and vertical application integration (and the first person to mention the abortion that is IMAP gets shot. Then defibrillated, stitched up, bandaged, made a cup of tea and a biscuit, and then shot again.).
Indeed - say what you like about Windows Mobile but it's a very configurable platform so even tho the UI sucks both operators and end users can fix it with additional software. And it's a doddle to develop for - especially if you've done Windows programming on the desktop.
