I eagerly await the people who download SP1 on day of release, install it on a production machine and then complain that Vista Sucks because it broke something.

Vista Sucks!! <insert generic problem> Microsoft are too greedy and hate their customers.

Just copy and paste to save time!

I'm gonna leave the service pack as my system's working fine

Re: Microsoft outlines Vista SP1 in 17-page changelog

Some parts of it sounds good though:

Improves performance over Windows Vista’s current performance across the following scenarios:

    * 25% faster when copying files locally on the same disk on the same machine

The MSN Connection Center Dial-up Internet Access connector was removed from the Windows Vista Connection Wizard.
    Woohoo the death of dialup....
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

"SP1 modifies the text in the Ultimate Extras Control Panel to describe the Ultimate Extras program in more general terms"

I'm so glad I payed for the fantastic Ultimate Extras.... I'd even be happy with a few new high res background wallpapers. Surely Microsoft can do something like that to keep the us happy.

Re: Microsoft outlines Vista SP1 in 17-page changelog

I'm simply going to install it on a backed up system.

    Obvious?

I look forward too all the well-informed posts by people who haven't actually installed SP1 but they've heard other people's opinions and just regurgitate them. Just like when they didn't install vanilla Vista.

    Sigh.

I installed Vista SP2 that I downloaded officially from Microsoft and in no way, shape or form from a dodgy P2P app and it hideously broke my machine, drank my beer and set fire to my curtains. Vista sucks.

yeah, who would ever expect a service pack deemed ready for public consumption to be ready for public consumption what idiot would think that all the betas and release candidates would lead to a fully functioning vista now?

I dunno - who'd have thought with all the time etc that Creative would still have sucky drivers? As for a Service Pack ready for public consumption... This thread is in reference to RC1 of SP1, not the final release (which allegedly may be ready for public consumption in a few weeks)

As for the Ultimate Extras... I think anyone who bought into that needs their heads looking at. I bought Ultimate because I needed domain support and wanted the MCE gubbins. Dreamscene was nice for about 5 minutes, but I certainly wasn't expecting the Ultimate Extras to be anything more than you got with Plus! (and those were generally rubbish)
