If I'm honest, its scaremongering. Record sales, and 90% of people pirating games? Rubbish.
"The implications are massive. In America, it is thought 100 percent of ELSPA spokemen love pulling statistics out from their behind because of low intelligence."
Of course - the fact that people can use them for none-pirating purposes - seems to have been overlooked.
Reports by who exactly?
Well, personally I'm perfectly prepared to believe it since obviously the loss of revenue means they can only afford to pay drooling mouth-breathers to write the reports... :devilish:
you mean.... theres a device that lets you play DS games for NOTHING?!
before i read this ELSPA article i had absolutely no idea that such a device existed! i guess if 90% of people are using it it must be acceptable and i should look into this more closely
;) dont have a DS, dont want a DS
the "report" is just something John Hillier of ELSPA said - no published reports or anything
edit - seems like there was an American newspaper.
well they do offer good value for money, unlike the majority of DS games which look like they were designed by a 3 year old, for a 3 year old with the attention span of, you guessed it, a 3 year old.
Can ELSPA prove that x many DS's would have been sold if it were NOT for the R4 cart?
i.e some DS owners would never have owned a DS to begin with if they could not have got an R4 for it.
Also, it has expanded the branding of the game publishers into households where maybe that publisher/developer may not have had a foothold. i.e a person may have like 20 games on their R4, but if they did not have the R4 this does not mean that they would have bought said 20 games. ..
ELSPA has to prove their existence - they used to do charts for games (sorta like HMV) and volunteered to age rate games and now does anti-privacy as well (although they have no money to sue or anything like that)
LOL.
ELSPA really has had a massive presence over the last year and have been getting their name about everywhere. They issue press releases frequently, on a weekly basis about piracy. It really has only started in the last year though.
I can't believe the figure would be as high as 90%.
I also edited Reports suggest to A newspaper report suggests as it was misleading.
Piracy has supposed to have killed just about every media by now.
Remember when they still had the pennies to make movies, games, software and music? Sigh.
yes because parents will buy anything to hush their kids.
i own a DSlite BTW, i owned a DS, white DSlite and now a black DSlite.
i only play like 4 games, the rest are totally numb.
Well that's why I'm wondering what the fuss is about this chip thingy. Parents don't want their kids to be using dodgy software that might contain who-knows-what, and if people like you only play 4 games then what's the incentive to pirate others?
