Could you post f@h performance figures for a quad GPU set-up? I guess not, but it would be interesting to see

I'd mainly would like to see this technology put forward to hardcore rendering for Graphics workstations. I would definitely like to see top-end workstation cards from ATi working in a 4-3 card configuration. nVidia had already released their QuadroPlex platform which can hold up to 4 cards. Although I haven't seen any benches of the QuadroPlex in GPU intensive apps, I'm pretty sure that the QuadroPlex platform can crank the handle on many rendering operations.

As with gaming, I still can't fully agree that card number above 2 is necessary. Unless scaling is done extremely well and the drivers fully optimized and a large majority of games, the above 2 card configuration will be for those who want high benchmark scores, super-smooth frames with super deep pockets, or need ultra-high quality renders and CGI. I can't see this doing a full on penetration of the mainstream market yet (IE, a large majority of people would have these in their machines.

Yes, there is the 3870X2, and for its price, I'd want to buy it. However, I didn't see huge benefits as I was expecting from the card over a single card solution of the HD3870 or an 8800GTS (G92).
