Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

This is a real shame because I quite liked Stage 6 and how you could download easily any video featured on the site and also the quality of video was as you'd expect from divX really good.

I'd be interested in downloading a few of the hexus.tv shows perhaps a multi codec approach might work well? Some mp3 players etc can't playback divx but can do mp4 etc etc

Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

DivX was pretty easy to install for Firefox, in order to get Stage6 to work.

But it didn't have anything truly crowd-pulling on it.

Massive shame, I was on there the other day watching full screen high res trailers of the latest films. Is there anything else out that offers the same kind of service?

DR - If it was HD on extended coverage of the major events - CEBIT and the like, then yes I would consider downloading the larger files.

However for the short snappy reports or interviews, the convenience of a flash based player is hard to surpass.

Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

If I recall correctly, Stage6 vids were featured heavily on the links available through the now sadly gone TV-Links website - and they were VERY good quality...

Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

    Shame.

The .mov movie trailers and myself have never got on with each other, and I'd come to rely on stage6 for high-def movie trailers in a format that worked for me. With them gone, where am I going to go .

Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

How am I gonna watch lost now?

Maybe it will leave a hole in the market and someone will open a new video uploading site or something. Maybe it has something to do with legal concerns. Just me talking from my experience and that of friends, 95% of the stuff we watched was American TV / films.

Also had the convenient option of right clicking and saving to your desktop!

Re: DivX to shut down Stage6.com

Missed this thread before now, only saw it on another forum.

I have to admit i never used it, but it is a shame that a service providing reasonable quality video is shutting down.

The Internet really does migrate to the lowest common denominator.
