Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Quote:
HEXUS.tv begins a season of programmes on overclocking - starting with a newbie overview of the general concepts and a link to a HEXUS-hosted CPU overclocking guide. Remember - you overclock entirely at your own risk!
Watch the show.
Before anyone comments that this is too low level, we are simply starting at a basic point so that - as we add more content in the future - we don't leave anyone behind :)
Also, we will be turning to a variety of experts for their sage-wisdom, gained over many a midnight workbench
If anyone has specific requests - then please ping us here and we will look into them for you :)

Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Good starting article :)
Could you do the same for off the shelf pc,s., media pc builds, gaming pc builds etc
and the same with the likes of a vista pc, a mac pc and a linux pc from setup to using various programmes on it
Then setting up a router
Setting up a NAS
setting up a home server
would make good series on a film ( a picture speaks a thousand words)
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
wow very yoyotech advertising there ey lol
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Good idea - can't watch the content yet (will do later) but a good idea non-the-less.
We can come up with plenty of ideas i'm sure, but i agree particularly with pumpman's idea of setting up Linux on a PC - still loads of people want to be shown before taking a dive in.
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Good idea, i think you should cover the PSU side as alot of people seem confused by this component!
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Well, i watched it. Yep, it's a basic intro, as the title suggests.
It's a worthwhile start, I hope to see it get more informative.

I'll cover those for you now.
Off the shelf PCs : warranty invalidated as soon as you OC, so don't do it.
Media PCs: whay would you want to overclo... oh, hang on, you mean how to go about building one?
Ahh, ok, here's the gen.
Check back soon! :)
As for server and network stuff... most NAS is now switch on and configure through a webpage just like nearly all routers/gateway modem routers.
Home server = buy Windows Home Server... seriously, it really is very, very good.
Vista PC = Install XP... no, I'm not joking. Save yourself a bunch of arseache and install XP. :)

Appart from when it corrupts all your data :)
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
Not had that problem tbh... You probably tried to use some non-MS software on it didn't you... yes, I know you did... tell Uncle Nicky for he knows the truth anyways.... :D
I think if you read the small print in the EULA it says MS have permission to blend your HDDs should anything Penguin come within 50 real world yards or closer than three nodes on the net.
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
never used Home Server myself, I value my data :P
Networking for Pros: Microsoft Home Server Bug Could Corrupt Files
Quote:
Users of Vista Photo Gallery, Live Photo Gallery, Office OneNote 2007, Office OneNote 2003, Office Outlook 2007, Microsoft Money 2007 and SyncToy 2.0 beta, may find their files corrupted after saving them to Home Server.
MK Knowlege base article
love the work around, real user friendly: "use Windows Explorer or a command-line tool to copy files to and from the Windows Home Server-based computer"
But don't worry, they are working on a fix, it'll be ready in.... June! :surprised:

Home server = buy Windows Home Server... seriously, it really is very, very good. show me the money and what about Linux Home Servers
What I mean to say is for the majority on here they will know the above, but a lot of people dont, and once you get them hooked then they will visit more :)
I expect my Hexus T Shirt in the post first thing
Vista PC = Install XP... no, I'm not joking. Save yourself a bunch of arseache and install XP. I don't have an answer for that :)

Netgear and Linksys have auto-set-up features now... hit the button and then just enter your username and password.

You don't need one... just leave Vista alone unless your work for Sun Micro Systems and have been stealing hardware to use at home....
Re: Overclocking Intro: Before you even think about it
That was a cool little video I thought.
Nice and simple. :)
Will look forward to some more.
