Yep good news, however I feel so strongly about it i've already sent response to BBC suggesting that if they refer to it as Jewel in the Crown sporting event, there should be an appropriate knowledgable commentry team in place, that is concise accurate and non uber hamilton biased.
There should also not be eye candy unless she knows what the hell she is talking about. Suzy Perry from Moto GP type person ONLY please.
F1 will be made or broken on the BBC by the quality of the commentary team imo.

Please, BBC, stop the cock!
Great news that the BBC is getting it back. ITV's coverage now is good, but it's taken them a long time to get things sorted - I thought their first few years were pretty poor. I hope the BBC keep Martin Brundle and find someone to partner him who isn't quite so irritating.
The only downside is that I shudder to think how much the BBC have lined Bernie's pockets.
Hehe, I'm not the only one who bought that t-shirt then?
I disagree. Standing outside Lewis Hamilton's garage, cutting away only for a couple of lines on Jenson Button discussing a new contract, a walk through the new cars and drivers and a lap of the track (with Hamilton) isn't good coverage. It's bloody awful.
James Allen's fine, but not as a commentator. If he just commentated he'd be OK, but he shouts. It's all so fake. He's the Jonathan Pearce of motor-sport. Blundell is like stale cheese. If it could talk, it would sound like him. As you say though, Brundle is a class act.
I listened to the 5Live commentary of the German GP last year while watching it on ITV. Murray was substituting for David Croft. He was good (if you consider it was radio commentary and not TV and he was even more confused than normal), they kept cutting to golf and football, yet even that was miles better than ITV.
For decent motor-sport coverage, and I never thought I'd be saying this, you have to look at the current NASCAR coverage (except Fox) and Indycars from back in the mid-90's.
BBC can always outbid the other channels because of the massive tv licensing funding...
Wonder how much of our licence fee did they pay for it...
I was always under the impression that the commercial stations had far greater bidding/spending power than the BBC.
Which makes me wonder why Bernie has offered it to the BBC. The poison dwarf is only interested in one thing: money. Which makes me wonder if there are other motives for dumping ITV and going to the BBC. Perhaps because Bernie wants rid of Martin Brundle?
I have to agree with you, ITV's coverage is just awful, its always been bad. I watched the preview program they aired a week before the season started, they had Bernie's daughter interviewing (sic) Kimi & Massa, she was terrible, only on the tv for one reason, and nothing else.
Not always about the money tho, whatever the BBC spend on any type of program they have to think they are getting good value for money. But the BBC can offer other things that ITV can't, one of those being a very good online presence.
There may also be a tie in with BBC Worldwide. I guess we won't know the details of the deal for some time. However if it is done through BBC WW then they may not have to declair as much as itis had been the core BBC doing the deal.
 all guess work
Best news all day this. Maybe if FOA sort out the TV equipment, and upgrade to HD we can finally get F1 in full HD
Looks like Hamster is the favourite to front the coverage according to the Daily Mail.
Good or bad?
Terrible, unless you want it to be comedy F1.
My guess is that the BBC got it because they offered (and paid for) all the various different media types. ITV's download content only seems to have been hashed together very recently, possibly in an effort to show bernie they could do it.
While it may be true she is cringeworthy, she's actually got a lot of power . . . the drivers, and everyone else, will think they will have to be nice to her. Kimi was even smiling in that interview - or he was genuinely having a laugh......at her.Yeah, I caught that bit of the show. Wish I hadn't. She was truly, truly, thoroughly, painfully awful at tv presenting.
Maybe part of the new deal is that the BBC has to include Bernie's stupid daughter in their coverage.
I have to agree with what stroberaver said. When it moved to ITV it was awful, but it has got much better over the last few years, and I certainly enjoy most of the coverage they do these days, apart from the advert breaks.
Have to wait and see what the BBC does, there's no guarantee they are going to be any better than ITV, even if Murray does come back.
