40 Ubisoft titles set to hit steam

The assassins creed page doesn't work for me (on steam) so i can't see how much they're charging... I've got this on preorder on physical media so i'd be interested to know..

I always thought one of the advantages of Steam would be that the games would be cheaper than retail?

I was contemplating buying Call of Duty 4 on the PC the other day (just to play with some old clan mates) and found they were charging some $70 for it! It's cheaper to get the retail box from most high street shops.

I was reading somewhere that they are starting their distribution via Steam in USA and Canada to start with. Probably why the links arn't working for us yet.

You're thinking like a consumer... Now think like a publisher - Why charge less than your standard retail price when you can charge the same amount and make the difference back in raw profit?

Never hopefully, Digital Delivery is a horrible horrible system.

If im ever buying anything i really want something physical. If im downloading it, I think I'll pass on the whole paying for it bit.

Yup - confirmed as north america only so it's completely useless for Assassins Creed to me

If it's a localisation issue (only wanting to have the English-language versions of Ubisoft games available initially for whatever reason), I can't see why they can't do North America and... where else speaks English? Hmmm.

Commercial/legal - in other words various people signing bits of paper to make it happen in other territories.

I was in the same boat, and I bought it for (if I recall) £25 from WHSmith instead. I love the idea behind Steam, but c'mon guys!

You should be able to just add it to Steam (I think) by browsing to the executable. I have IL2 and an expansion or 2 but may well just splurge if the price is right...
