It's certainly a great achievement that the notebook is only 1kg in weight. However, why you want to pay so much for what is relatively a low spec machine?
Apple Air also has very low spec but in my opinion most people buy it for it's form rather then function.
The picture shown here about this Rock, it just look like any other notebook.
My two pennies.
It does seem rather under spec and over priced. I bought a Samsung Q30 (Dell X1 equiv.) for £1200 2 years ago, only 512MB of ram but 1.1GHz processor, 2 batteries giving 9 hours+ battery life and a firewire dvd-combo drive.
This is a distinct step backwards.
Most Rock items are overpriced though
Main - Intel Core i5 2300 @ 3.5GHz, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM, Asus P8P67 Pro, Coolermaster iGreen 600w, GTX 480, Antec One Case
however, it is nice that they're thinking of the customer though and providing the extra AC adaptor and the option to not have all the trial programs pre-installed. it'd be nice if that was the norm...
if this had come out 4 years ago but now, its old and crusty tech isnt it? like getting a desktop p4

Regarding many people often making ill-fated decisions based on form over function, it's sad but true.
One of my colleagues described to me that an Apple Air is as close as IT's equivalent of pornography :-(
Temptations, temptations...
Parm,
LOVE that headline!
