Mmm greasy fingerprints all over my screen. Nice!
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
also considering the 'angle of a attack' that one normally goes at a tablet screen, your fingers won't work if you've not been for a manacure today, granted most mac users probably get them anyway, but if you've gone for anythign but the lesbo nail look (or man one) then your nail will get in the way of the screen rendering the touchscreen useless (because these all rely on good old Kirchoof's pinciple).
The iPod touch isn't afflicated quite so badly by this because of the incidence you have when you touch the screen, you arm is normally at much less than 45°.

Not exactly ergonomic either is it? having to lift your whole are up to the screen to move the mouse.
In fact, you is this going to effect RSI etc?
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
It does mean mac users can lick their screen to show their love AND get a response this time!
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
As long as they stick to fingers and tongues thats fine, any other "pointing" devices are definitely not allowed.

PMSL
Brings a whole new meaning (and demographic) to the phrase 'window licker's'
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
I'd rather exchange the whole keyboard/touchpad area with a huge trackpad.
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
Tactile feedback on a keyboard is A Good Thing (tm)
Re: Apple MacBooks to lose trackpad and go fully touch-controlled by 2010?
This will be poor if there's no tactile response. It would be far better, in my opinion, if they worked on working in something like the optimus maximus, or if they just turned all their laptops into tablets with keyboards (without impact on weight or performance preferably).
And for a start Apple need to sort out their abysmal handwriting recognition.
