How to silence those Rock Band drums!

Rock Band has a problem... The drum kit pads are just too damn loud when you whack them with the sticks, meaning you either gotta try and play softly or annoy the hell out of the neighbours by turning the volume up... But worry not as I have come up with a solution!

Re: How to silence those Rock Band drums!

Also, will the game be available as a standalone purchase? I already have guitars from GHII and GHIII so I'd like to get just the Rock Band game if possible.

If need be, I'd add the other peripherals later on if they were available individually too.

*EDIT* Another question, can you play online as a band on Xbox Live? So for example, could I be on guitar, Prime on Drums and Nick singing, all online?

You'll be able to buy the game on it's own and they're selling the drum kits as separate items.

On the Xbox 360 the GH controllers *should* work, there's been patchy reports but most say yes.

On the PS3 version, you'll have to use the Rock Band guitars, GH controllers won't work, most likely due to the wireless connectivity.

That said, the Rock Band guitar is far and away better than the GH guitar... it has two sets oif fret buttons, the second set being up near the body of the guitar and working as 'push tp play' buttons, ie, no strumming, during the special solo sections of a track. Plus there's the effects switch, which allows you to select echo, flange, wah-wah etc effects during Overdrive (Star Power) moments.

You can play online as a band using the World Tour option, though the band creator, whether it's you or someone online, has to always be in the band session... So if you're missing the band creator but the rest of you are there, you'll ave to play as another band and restart the tour. Other band members can come and go though.

UK release dates and pricing have not been set yet.

Or for those of you without a sewing machine (or those too lazy to use one) practice pads are available a bit cheaper here - Noise reduction pads Percussion DTP4 DRUM KIT NOISE REDUCTION PADS -4 PIECE - Stagebeat - DTP4 drum pad pads practice, practise DSP1

I'd have thought it'd be fairly easy to modify a cheap roll out foam camp "bed" with a pair of scissors, it's an extremely similar material to the real thing but you can pick em up for about a fiver.

Nice one. That is a great idea. I do worry about annoying the neighbours.

That's cool you put a lot of work into making those. Kudos to anyone who does that. I would also recommend getting the pads from the DrumPads4RockBand.com website. They work very well, and don't require all that work .
