Will I be taking part? Will I hell.
i'll ask my 300-machine datacenter...
no
What a stupid idea this is
Rather than bother with this, I'd rather go plant a tree or something related like this as I expect that will do more to assist in reducing carbon than shutting down for 24 hours.
I'll even go and block a volcano or 2 to stop them pumping out millions of tons of Carbon Dioxide as well.
Turn off all computers in the western world and create instant anarchy! :D
You sure they aren't a terrorist organisation ;)

Erm, nope?
@ home, yes but at work no, that's beyond my control.
It's a saturday... and it's a hexus meet... and I'm away.
So yes, none of my Pc's will be on, but only because I'm not at home.
Yep we will turn off all the HEXUS Servers for the 24 hours - that okay chaps? :)
You mean to say you won't be leaving your PCs on for folding? :surprised:;)
Can't imagine I'll ever leave the computers off for a full 24 hours unless I'm away from home. Checking emails and the usual daily surf is so much a routine I sure it's ingrained into my DNA by now. Even if I didn't have internet access, the server would at least be on for a bit of streaming audio. Besides, all the here stuff gets turned off at night anyway so I've accumulated enough to cover Shutdown Day.
As for the .lifestyle question, "Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?", well yes if I have to I'm not Borg yet.
When i have rather important coursework in soon, not a chance
