That's not a car it's a plane with wheels instead of wings!

Re: Fancy driving an 800mph jet car?

    How about this:
    Dear Sir,

I'm the man for the job!

In the past I've held a BCPL license and driven or flown cars, fire engines, tanks, jetskis, canal boats, single and twin engined aircraft and helicopters.

In my youth I sometimes managed to make the traditionally non-flying modes of transport into temporary wonders of the modern world as they got airbourne... though the landings were always somewhat abrupt. However, I have always walked, or in a few cases, limped clear of the landing site and since 1991 haven't made anything leave the ground at all which I think is what you really want to hear.

Should the worst happen though you can rest assured that my vast experience of crashing will come to the fore and with a bit of Elastic Plastic Padding she'll be as good as new.

I have a love of speed, as the three points on my license proves, and, as the three points further prove, they've only caught me the once so far.

I have experience of very high speed cars having seen lots of them on Top Gear and I stood near a Jaguar XKR once... and if that weren't enough I also own a Mitsubishi Carisma 1.9 DiD which I haven't crashed yet.

I have fully comprehensive insurance with 5 years protected no-claims discount and I'm covered for third party on any other car provided I tell the insurance company beforehand. I've already made enquiries about getting cover for the North American Eagle and am waiting for them to get back to me.

My 'helmet face' makes me look like Marlon Brando trapped in some lift doors but I'm sure 42,500bhp dumped onto the track in one go will help smooth out the forehead creases.

I have a full passport and a wife who'd be incredibly angry if I did this... but then she's got six points on her license so she's not one to talk, eh?
    How's that sound?

Re: Fancy driving an 800mph jet car?

I've often wondered if you can really call sitting in a 800mph jet powered vehicle, "DRIVING". Sheer terror and holding on to the "steering wheel", (who would want to turn that at 800mph!!. )

But seriously, isn't it much more a case of strap in hitting the power button and then slowly increasing throttle to 100% and PRAYING you don't die.....

Too true. If you visit the project website you will see that it is an F104 Starfighter.

Does this REALLY qualify as a jet powered car? Is it not just a plane taxiing at high speed?
