Would dissipation of heat and overall weight could be even more of an issue if wood material is used for the casing?
Bamboo laptop looks very nice.
Have I missed a beat? I thought we were meant to stop cutting down trees :)
At that price this probably won't get my love.Quote:
Dell states that its eco-PC should hit retail later this year and should cost somewhere between $500 and $700. Hands up, who's feeling the bamboo-love?
But it does look nice though.
From our good freinds at Wikipedia - Bamboo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
Bamboo is a group of woody perennial evergreen plants in the true grass family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae, tribe Bambuseae. Some of its members are giant bamboo, forming by far the largest members of the grass family. Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world. Their accelerated growth rate (up to 3-4 feet/day (1.5-2.0 inches/hr)) is due to a unique rhizome system and is dependent on local soil and climate conditions.
Yea, I read that too - learn something new every day!
i think we human can't live without any natural source. At this moment we still cut trees to make our modern furniture, every day printing paper, our fave book etc.
so I think we can't merely stop cutting trees at all, we also need to find the substitute of trees. Wood and other grass plant are a good choice sincethey regrow very fast, light, and comparing with PVC/plastic material it clearly easier to decompse.
this product is a good campaign to promote the use of bamboo material.
To be honest I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with the opinion expressed in the article - the "bamboo look" really doesn't appeal to me.
There is absolutley nothing wrong in using trees, wood, bamboo or any other natural renewable resource.
