i can see this being very useful in a hpc environment where the lower power would allow higher densitys

NSLU2 - are you refering to a Network storage link for USB 2, Hardly a server, more a NAS/SAN.
For a small business file storage unit, yes an NSLU2 would be great as it would use very little power, but for an enterprise grade number crunching or application server its unlikely to pull much 'ummph'.
The Janus two achieves two dual quad core servers in a 1u box at the expense of 127W idle to 277W load.
These servers each achieve 73000+ MFLOPs in Windows Server 2003.
Although I see your point the word 'efficiency' is a little subjective, in this case we are providing Performance (GFlops) per Watt efficiency in an enterprise number crunching product.
In you example your providing Storage per Watt efficiency, something we are looking to do with an up and coming storage server (on a larger scale admittedly).
