How can you thoroughly recommend something that just stuff you can get in a million places for free on the net, just on glossy paper? And for £12.99 as well...

I found the one for san andreas very useful indeed... especially for getting the 50 "tags"...

I didnt buy it however, a friend had it, and we used it together...

I might buy this one though... and having it is a book is more useful than having to search the net...

espcially if it is as useful as the previous one!

    13 quid more useful?

Nah mate. Paying for free things is never good, unless you are a) stupid, or b) stupid.

There will have been a million sites with maps of the tags on San Andreas. A million and eight, probably.

Steven, why are you reviewing a guide book anyway?

Re: Reviews - The Official GTA IV game guide

hahaha, it'll be less than £13 if you shop around... and it all depends on what you want from the game?

hell, ive bought 2 copies, (one included a whole console) to play the game in 2 formats... so having the guide book isnt all that far fetched.

Sure someone might scan it and put the info on the net, but i'll have the hard copy of the book and it will b easy to reach, easy to get to and easy to read... so whatever?

I use the free walkthrough etc online for games, but if there's a game I really like I'll get the guide book so I can have all the details on everything I need in front of me. I have this guide from day one, I've already tried looking for various things online and I can't find what I need.

It's like buying magazines and tv guides. You can get all the info online, but that still doesn't beat having the mag in front of you. It's a massive guide and I've been reading through it in bed, finding out stuff which I probably would never have known.

I disagree that guide books are a waste of money. I've used the Final Fantasy ones, Kingdom Hearts, Pro Evo guides and they've all proved well worth the money. Yeah I could wait till all the info is online, but it doesn't beat having the book in your hand.

Why reviewing it? GTA IV a hot topic. That and Wii Fit. (it was either that or George of the Jungle on DS) Noooooo!

These are generally nicely done but I just don't see the fun in it, I enjoy figuring it out myself. Instruction books for for flat pack furniture, not games.

Only bit I use is the "find 100 obscure items" type things as there's no fun in that to begin with But that's usually easily findable on the net by the time I've finished mucking around with everything else enough to be bothered doing it.

    Furry muff.

Although I'm not talking about a scanned copy of it on the net, I'm talking about every piece of information being avalible, for nowt, on a million different sites, plus the added advantage of forums so you can ask people who know whats what.

But like I say, if you want to buy free things, then thats cool.

People buy bottled water after all...

Don't drink out of the tap! You'll be poisoned with fluoride!

I know what you're saying though, you will be able to get the details for free, but it's too much mucking around for me, I'll pay for convenience if I think it's really worth it. I use the net for Oblivion and most the time it takes me a while to find what I want.

This way it takes me a few seconds and I don't have to move from my sofa.

Yes, but you do have to pay £13.

Its an expensive option for stuff thats free.

Who exactly are you recommending it to? People who can't be arsed to move?

Whats the quality like? Is it *very* good?

Zoomable, expandable, full map for GTAIV - GTA 4 Liberty City Map Images and Screenshots

    Achievement guide -
Achieve This! Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox

Found in 10 seconds. I'm sure everything else is out there.

Can you zoom in and out in the guide book? (Yes, I'm just trying to be clever)

13 quid? Someone is having a bubble bath.

Re: Reviews - The Official GTA IV game guide

Quick then! Pay £13 to get the book, because the missing missions will be secret ones that the internet doesn't know about!

Those links were just examples btw. The first 2 links I found.

Anyway, its not my job to save you money.

    potato/potatoe....

personally, I'm with stewart on this one, £13 for what could be found on the net easily.

besides, where's the fun in having a guide? that's half of the game, surely?
