    So, it is usual for motherboard manufacturers to distribute pirate copies of operating systems with their motherboards?

    Woohooo, finally some pace with the 780a! MSI and ASUS offerings so far. Eagerly awaiting the review.

    My only 2 criticisms:

    6 SATA is a little short, my skt 939 based board comes with 8 SATA which are all in use.

    And only 1 PCIe x1? I think 1 PCI and 2 PCIe x1 would have been better.

    Why should they be pirate copies? So long as they're licensed accordingly, who cares what media they're on? Without checking into it, you could perhaps even argue a simple TechNet license would cover it.

    I'm with pow. I wish motherboards came with the facility for more SATA ports - I've had to buy a RAID controller card (not configured for RAID I should add) to accommodate all my disks and connectors on a board that has 6 SATA ports already). I'd also much prefer to decide whether or not the extra 2 ports, configured here for eSATA, are used internally or not, or used by a front-panel (as most high-end cases are including now, and many port-addon devices too). A simple bracket for the back would be a much better idea. Rear facing eSATA connectors are about as much use as that ludicrous cooler (or is the 780a still churning out enough heat to warm Orkney?).

    They bundle it with an X-Fi? Oh dear god.

    Did MSI not notice the massive enthusiast ditching of Creative but a few weeks ago, or was it too late to pull out?
    PHP Code:

    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Re: Previews - NVIDIA nForce 780a SLI chipset preview

    It's OK. It'll probably be a CMedia/Realtek/SoundMax chip but with X-FI/Audigy software, just like the Dell laptops of a year or 2 ago.

    So that was... ignoring the strength of Creative (the hardware) and using their weakest link (software). If MSI have pulled the same marketing trick, then all I'm going to do is laugh. Quite a lot.
