This feature was introduced with the 2.00.04 firmware back in December, with a press release issued on 25th Jan.

Any idea how this new release changes things? I've looked at the firmware release notes for 2.00.08 (released 22/4/08, didn't know about that one) and there is no mension of IP Cam enhancements.

Got to be honest - the 2 features I like the look of:

    • Added support of mounting ISO File as share folders.
    • Updated Media Server to support MP3 and DIVX playback on PS3.

    Yeah i saw them

I'm surprised no-one had mensioned about 2.00.08 on here or the Slimdevices forum before now. There was a 2.00.07 beta that someone had a while back, but it was provided by Thecus to sort their specific problems. I know what I'll be doing tonight

I like this fix too, wan't a problem but got the old heart going whenever you shut down:
    • Fixed false email notification that RAID N/A when the system is being shut down.

    This is interesting:
    • Added reserved word “naswebsite” for future web server modules.

Oh, and for anyone else reading this: Thecus Download Center for 2.00.08

Cool Re: Headlines - Thecus adds network camera functionality to N5200 series

The new IP Camera module works really great and the support is better than the 5 listed cameras suggests.
IP Camera manufacturers tend to use the same format for image capture across a range of cameras.

For example, I have a 5200Pro that picks up frames frames on a Panasonic BB-HCM531 thats located up a mountain in Switzerland.

The 5200Pro then turns what ever frames have been captured each hour into a single .mpg file.
This is a bit of pain especially if you only capture 1 frame per minute, but at least you can join the .mpg files together which can be edited in Windows movie maker.

Th real let down on this application is the current lack of flexibility in the creation of .mpg files such as control of the bit rate and of course the 1hr limit. Hopefully Thecus will fix this short coming soon.

    That sounds good iXX

IP cams is something i'd like to play around with, I just don't have a use for them
