I think it's ming-ing. Sorry, but I would pay $100 extra to have them remove it, not add it.
Its not bad, but not the design I would choose.
Come to think of it, I can't imagine a design I'd want on my laptop, unless it could be changed as regularly as a desktop image - I'd get bored...
LoL! That made me chuckle.
Visually, it's not quite appealing to my own tastes. It is a right step for Dell though. Their Laptops/PCs are very dull to look at.
I hope the design also flows around to around the screen/keyboard too as it would be a shame if you paid US$100 for something to be drawn on the aft side of the screen.
Is Mike Merciless?
Not my kind of thing but I can see some people wanting this. :)
Fugly, IMO; personally, I think that some of their more recent XPS laptops (the M1330 and 1530) look at least as attractive as the average Apple.
Dell Have gone about this completely the wrong way. Why try and dress up a laptop that's really ugly in the first place. What they needed to do was completely redesign the laptop.
It annoys me that no other laptop manufacturer seems to look into aesthetics as much as Apple do. The macbook pro looks lovey and doesnt need any of this art crap on it.
I think that the appeal is rather limited, if it was a case where you could get virually any image added, or if the range was a *lot* broader then this option would be an exciting step forward.
As it stands those look an awful lot like the Isotope laptop cases from Scan...
actually, i like this
if anyone remembers the old white ibooks, there was quite a community for people modding them with art like this
I'd rather get a normal looking laptop and a nice vinal decal to stick on it myself (cheaper too.)
Hey, at the risk of getting flamed, I quite like the new design. My wife on the other hand - who not long ago got an Inspiron with the "Chill" design - thinks it looks like a road accident.
And before the Apple fanboiz come back - don't tell me anyone that can ship a keyboard as truly awful as the "Air" one is should be taken as a design leader. Kudos to Dell for trying to ship something other than white/silver/black.
Excuse me while I go change the track on my iPod...
I really like the idea, dell are late jumping on the badwagon though, HP got there before them. An option to have custom artwork printed at say $150 - $200 would be awesome!
Personally I would prefer if they offer a link to update a photo that went on the cover.
Makes it more personal
Its a very nice design on an ugly chassis, Dell should sort out the shape and profile of the laptop first.
...just read Timmy's post, thats what I was trying to say.
but you managed to say it in a far more articulate manner;)
I do agree with the previous post too, the Air is an absolute joke... its just rubbish. That's form over function taken to the extreme. I'm definately not an apple fanboy (i hate osx with a passion) but I must say that usually apple do get the balance between form and function spot on.
