Interesting. The idea of being able to have th computer in one room and the Monitor somewhere else would be cool especially as it would make the computer room silent :D
When they can find a way of having the monitor completely wireless IE battery/fuel cell thyat would allow 12 hrs+ useage then it would be great:D

As this quote shows, it highlights the main issue still remaining, power. Unless we have a safe, foolproof way of powering these devices without wires or short lasting battery's, it's all for naught.
Still, it's good progress, sooner or later, you'll be able to easily build PC's into anything simply by using wireless monitors, interface devices and speakers. If you can get it portable enough, you can get the benefits of a desktop system, with the portability of a laptop around the house,

That would be a good idea. They could combine a monitor, keyboard, and mouse/touchpad, in a laptops case, allowing for an extra large compacity battery giving a really long time between re-charge, and the power of a desktop!:D

A wireless monitor still seems pointless from my point of view...
If you dislike the clutter of wires, well this isn't going to help! it's not gonna be wirelessly powered is it?
Re: Headlines - ASUS and Realtek team up to provide wireless monitors
It does give you the option of having the PC and monitor in serparate rooms

you can do that anyway with a drill and a slightly longer cable.
Re: Headlines - ASUS and Realtek team up to provide wireless monitors
moving around the monitor to the living room, so you can watch some nice x264 1080p videos, caus not everyone has a HDTV :)

This does sound more useful than than people are suggesting.
At the moment VGA cables can only go so far before the signal is degraded.
Having wireless monitors is one solution to this.
The other solution is the new DisplayPort standard which can use FibreOptic cables.
They can go for miles without any kind of signal degradation.
