Doesn't look too great anymore... the hype was too much... So it matches a 8800 GTS or a GT depending on the game... That's hardly going to change the market :(
i was going to ask if thats why the review was a multi-parter :DQuote:

reading time!
How about some different game benches? The hexus set ones always strike me as a little imbalanced.
I did post this earlier in the hardware section:
"Looking at some early benchmarks (link) for the 4850 its able to match the 8800 GT and the 9800 GTX cards but i am curious what the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ will offer into the mix."
DMC4 benchmark would be great too and its free :p
From the results so far, its basically an overclocked 8800gt.
Looks like a good card if the price is right
That's disappointing unless it is a driver issue.
I was hoping for so much more from the 4850... :(
me too, something up here... anyway hometime
What worries me slightly is that if its more expensive then an 8800gt, I don\'t see any point in buying it unless you wanted to do crossfire.
Well according to this french retailer they are pricing it at £120.00.
These are all mid range benches with resolutions and settings to medium - at higher resolutions or settings the HD4850 may be shown in a more positive light relative to the competition.
hmmm little dissapointed but my breath will remain held for the full 4850 and 4870 reviews
Hmm, don't know what to make of this. I'm waiting to buy my parts, and have been holding out to see what AMD can deliver. I'm looking at top-end cards, in particular the 280, looking at these results I don't think there's much point in waiting around to see the 4870...
TechPowerUp and Tweaktown numbers show the card being alot better than those numbers show.

That's 2 x HD4850's in crossfire keeping up with a 280 - until silly resolutions.
Urk.
Remind me of the cost difference again?
Now rather interested to see how a 4870X2 works out :)
Hexus: what was your test setup/drivers?
