These screenshots really are a waste of time....as yet again they are not in-game.

they have a lot of backside kissing to do to their fans after last years attempt at a football game. was the first time i have bought fifa since owing a ps1! And they also have a bit of ground to catch up with fifa as well.. but im sure they can give it a damn good go.

I'm a bit dubious about their improvements this year. I really want to see some change and evolution of the series.

We should hear more in the coming months about their concrete plans. I'm hoping that it will be good enough to make me want to switch back from playing FIFA.

After fifa 08 then the improvement on uefa 2008, im really really looking forward to seeing what they do with fifa 09. PES imo has looked and played the same for the last 4/5 years. I hope they make some bigger changes this time round, but i cant see them doing so

I always pre oder pro evo, this time I'm going to wait for a review before I spend my money.

It's such a shame that a once great game is now just a shadow of its former self.

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

I really don't think I ever want to play PES again. I picked up PES 4 for the PS2 for 2 quid in game and run it upscaled on the PS3 and as far as I'm concerned thats the best one.

PES 6 on the 360 was dire, but for Konami to release the last one with an added feature...wait for it..............A DIVE BUTTON.......WTF, Konami serisoulsy had/has run out of ideas.

I still can't believe people attempt to play it online with pings reaching into the 1000's and what has Konami done about it?? Sod all, quoting one of the lines above, it barely was an attempt at a football game....when I bought it, I felt violated lol. Sham of a game....

    Rant over.

EA Euro all the way for me now, had a classic 7-1 win last night and hit the bar 3 times...I love the chip shot

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

PES is still a must buy for me, i'm a massive fan of the master league and don't play much online so the problems with it never showed up for me.

They have been talking for a while about a complete overhaul for this year in graghics and controls, hopefully they won't change the controls too much though, just make skills a little easier.

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

i heard they were giving 2009 a miss as they want to make major improvments to the game after the disappointing pes2008. According to this that ain't true - no surprise there then, we'll just get a poor version on the game again, may as well stick with the ps2

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

I just hope something can be done to get rid of all the 'cheap' ways of scoring that are in the current version of PES.

I actually quite like the game. I just don't like the fact that every other opponent online just puts Ronaldo/Eto'o/Messi or some other speedy player in the corner, and just keeps playing through balls to them. Then goes for the bye-line. Then plays a cut-back even if they have a shot on. As a wise man once said... It does my head in!

I actually have much more fun playing low ranked players, as most of them don't know the cheap ways to score, so you get more of a game of football. A lot of the higher ranked players just do whatever it takes to win. As long as they're ahead it's fine, but if you score or (perish the thought) take the lead, they just come out with the same old tactics. Snooze-worthy.

Oh, and if they remove the "hahaha" comment, it'll stop all the childish muppets having an outlet for their immaturity.

FIFA isn't quite as bad, but as Beserker mentions, people just use the chip shot every time. It's FIFA's version of the cut-back.

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

i dont realy like fifa. there are too many flaws in it and the only reason i play it is because there is not any other decent footy game out. fifa is too slow, sluggish and unresponsive and i hate it.

The shot system in fifa is poor too, in semi/auto the shots 9/10 always goes straigh at the goalie or the goalie saves it all the damm time. in manual the shots are HARDLY on target either. the through balls are useless in fifa. they keep getting intercepted and the CPU cheats alot more then PES.

i hope to god pes produces a decent game this time round because i cant stand fifa tbh. too easy online too. i once won 30 games on the trot online in ranked matches but in PES i could never do that. PES provides a more challenging game online then FIFA

hmmm through balls work ace on fifa, its timing them thats the hard bit. And shooting is easy to position.. it is a bit slow but thats being fixed this year but the other points are pretty much invalid and down to practise.

    Re: First looks - PES 2009 - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

The thing I most disliked about the last game was how you can have 1 player, run up the whole pitch along the side and score.

I hope player have better control and the game play slowed up a touch. Oh and I love playing 2v2 so I hope the game has this. As a new owner of ps3, i do hope graphics are ready for the console this time as i hear they weren't last time round.
