What a waste of an idea - why not let the customer complete the transaction online, then ship from the shelves to the customers hand ? That would let HMV stores competing on price AND convenience against the web retailers.
Re: Headlines - Legal loophole paves way for high street VAT-free videogames
HMV are usually overpriced in-store anyway, so I doubt many games will see the "under £18" barrier and so be exempt from tax.

Quite, HMV are getting a bit desperate. I mean Blu-ray @ £30 each, and games at £50, who are they kidding.

Is this why play.com and others price are usually 10 quid cheaper?
Went to my local Zavvi today and they were selling Smash Brothers for 40 quid :O_o1:

Internet > All
:p
I've seen on the tesco website they do similar too, nothing that new tbh. Just a more advertised tax evasion :p

HMV are not always overpriced..in fact I have found many times that they are the cheapest (in store, not online). You just have to be lucky and hope that whatever your after is in the perpetual sale that they have on. If it is then your sorted :)
If you have a student card then the extra 10% off you get also makes a world of difference...This is a good idea really, regardless of the tax-free issue. Essentially your giving your customers a chance to order out of stock items without wasting staff time doing one through the HMV store ordering systems and without the customer just deciding to walk out as its not there. Could potentially make them alot more money as they will lose less sales due to items being out of stock :)
